Advanced ATC graduates seven from newly FAA approved program

When Ty White came to Selma nearly 10 weeks ago, he was looking for a second chance to become an air traffic controller licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration. The Tampa, Florida, native had washed out attempting to go through the FAA aviation school, and he got that chance to prove himself through a new fast track program at Advanced ATC’s academy at Craig Field Airport and Industrial Authority. On Friday, he received his certification to be an air traffic controller.
“Bringing back this opportunity and having that second chance, it’s kinda surreal,” White said. “Now finally having this course approved by the FAA, it’s just imaginable. It’s a magical feeling.” White will now head to Alaska to work at a federally contracted airport tower with an opportunity to continue his training and become an FAA controller after a couple of years.
