A Collegiate Training Initiative program generally combines air traffic control coursework with a two- or four-year degree. A CTO program focuses more directly on technical tower training and certification requirements. Advanced ATC’s 12-month program may allow a student to reach the CTO certification stage sooner than a traditional degree pathway, but the programs have different purposes, credentials, costs, and career requirements.
